Data Protection in the Next Election, with Special Guest James Robson

We are excited to announce that James Robson will be joining the Data Protection Made Easy podcast live on 5th June 2026 for a special discussion exploring data protection in the next election.

This promises to be one of our most thought-provoking and timely discussions yet, bringing together politics, public trust, AI, cybersecurity, campaigning, voter data, governance, and the future of privacy in democratic processes.

James has an incredibly unique background spanning technology, cybersecurity, consultancy, government-backed research, and national politics. After beginning his career in media and creative production, writing and directing Wales’s first online drama series before Netflix was even established, he moved into the technology sector and built a successful B2B IT infrastructure and cybersecurity sales management career.

Alongside training to become a yoga and meditation teacher, James transitioned into data protection consultancy in 2016, helping organisations navigate some of the earliest practical implementations of the EU GDPR. Since then, he has worked across highly complex and high-profile environments, supporting a global psychometric testing firm through a 50 billion datapoint AWS migration and later acting as DPO for government-backed research centres within the What Works Network.

During this period, he also helped implement the first non-governmental research dataset into the UK Office for National Statistics, combining innovation, governance, and public interest data sharing.

In 2023, James became the Data Protection Officer for The Labour Party, placing him at the centre of one of the most scrutinised and fast-moving political environments in the country. In 2026, his focus has shifted towards building trusted data sharing ecosystems for societal benefit as CEO of a trusted data intermediary service provider with global technical and legal compliance wrapped in.
